SedgeHammer Herbicide

Treats:

We highly recommend using a surfactant with Sedgehammer 1.33 ounce bottle.

Sedgehammer in the 13.5-gram box already contains surfactant.

SedgeHammer herbicide kills nutsedge without injury to turfgrass, established ornamentals, shrubs, and/or trees. SedgeHammer provides post-emergence control of both purple nutsedge and yellow nutsedge. SedgeHammeralso controls many broadleaf weeds and suppresses kyllinga. Nutsedge is controlled after emergence in cool and warm season turf grasses such as St. Augustine grass, Bermudagrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, tall and fine fescue, and perennial ryegrass. Sedgehammer is considered one of the more “gentle to turfgrass” products and pets and people can return to the treated area once the spray dries.

Sedgehammer is the exact same product as Manage Herbicide. The Gowan Company purchased the Manage product and its rights to use from Monsanto in early 2005 and now sells the very same product as Sedgehammer.

Application Rate:

0.5 oz. (13.5 grams) in 1 to 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft.

Indicators & Miscellaneous

Fast Break
Treats:

Fast Break adjuvant provides foam knockdown and antifoam activity in spray mixtures.

Antifoam agents suppress surface foam to minimize air entrapment that can cause pump or spray problems and aid tank filling by reducing or preventing foaming of spray mixtures during agitation. Antifoams use a physical process (not a chemical process) to control or knock down the foam. Antifoam agents are especially useful when mixing herbicides with soft water, which can cause the greatest foaming problems. The reduction of foam can decrease mixing and tank filling times, reduce the loss of crop protection products, and prevent killed vegetation when spray tanks foam over.

Defoamers are designed to knock down foam after it develops in the spray tank. Defoamers often contain silicone and function the same as antifoams to physically destroy the foam.

Application Rate:

Preventive: 1 ounce per 100 gallons of spray solution when mixing
Curative: Add Fast Break adjuvant full strength to the surface for fast foam knockdown
Water hardness, temperature, and individual spray tank mixtures may affect the amount needed. Adjust the rate used to achieve desired foam control.

Insecticides/Pesticides

20% Vinegar
Treats:

Vinegar containing 20 percent acetic acid provides 80 to 100 percent weed control on annual weeds and some perennial weeds.

Application Rate:

Apply to weeds with a pump sprayer or garden sprayer. Apply the vinegar weedkiller on a sunny day and at the time of day when the sunlight is at its brightest; choose a day when the wind is calm and no rain is in the weather forecast. Thoroughly coat the entire above-surface portion of the weeds with the vinegar weedkiller. A second and third treatment of the weedkiller may be required once each day until the weeds are dead. Once the weeds are dead, pull them out of the ground and dispose of them properly.

Cautions:

Will damage any vegetation they encounter, including desirable plants, vegetables, and flowers. A gust of wind, while you spray the weedkiller, could blow the weedkiller onto nearby desirable plants, causing varying degrees of damage. To reduce the possibility of unintended contact, apply the weedkiller only when the wind is not blowing hard.

A 20 percent vinegar can cause skin, eyes, nose and throat irritation. Wearing goggles and chemical-resistant rubber gloves will help prevent injury to yourself when working with 20 percent vinegar.

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator

Treats:

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator makes controlling the insect population on your property simple. It uses its two active ingredients: pyriproxyfen and novaluron, to stop the juvenile pests from growing into adults. By disrupting the life cycle of the insects by keeping the juveniles from growing into adults, this gives a long term solution to pest control problems. For use in many areas, from furniture and carpets to kennels and poultry houses.

Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator is a great example of using pesticides to deal with pests over a longer period of time than other products that kill the pests outright, but can’t control the population from rebounding. The active ingredients are the key behind the success, for two completely different reasons. Pripoxyfen is a juvenile hormone analog, which makes the pre-adult stage of the insect longer so that it dies before it can reproduce. And novaluron is a Chitin Sythesis Inhibitor, stops the insect from being able to molt, making it more likely to die from outside influences. These two chemicals work together to stop insect control problems in their tracks. Tekko Pro Insect Growth Regulator works for up to 7 months after application.

Destiny HC
Treats:

First MSO adjuvant compatible with glyphosate

Destiny HC adjuvant is a unique, highly concentrated, methylated soy oil–based spray adjuvant that incorporates CornSorb technology for increased effectiveness. Destiny HC adjuvant is part of a class of adjuvants called high surfactant oil concentrates (HSOC). For use with all herbicides that recommend a methylated seed oil (MSO ) or crop-oil concentrate (COC), Destiny HC adjuvant is the first MSO adjuvant available that is compatible for use with glyphosate.

Destiny HC adjuvant helps herbicides perform especially well on large weeds and under stressful, hot, dry weather conditions when weeds are most difficult to control. The crop-based formulation makes  Destiny HC adjuvant highly effective at reduced rates. And because rates are lower, there’s less product to handle, providing increased user convenience.

  • Destiny HC adjuvant helps herbicides perform when weeds are under stressful, hot, dry weather conditions.
  • Destiny HC adjuvant improves herbicide control at half use rates of standard MSOs.
  • To lock in spray coverage or deposition, and to lock out drift, include WinField United InterLock adjuvant

Application Rate:

Follow herbicide product label recommendations for MSO or COC oil rates, use with specific crops and application timing.  Destiny HC adjuvant may be used at rates that are less than or equal to the rates recommended on the herbicide label.
